These or the Sony - WH1000XM5?

A big advantage IMO is the newer Bose headphones connect using the Bose Music app, just like my soundbar. The older QC 35 ii is limited to a separate Bose Connect app (which is feature limited in comparison). You get an equalizer and no it's nothing fancy but is good enough for the average listener. Set bass to +10, play the same songs and switch between both headphones. There IS a difference with the EQ.
Whether or not these are upgrades to you is debatable, especially if you have the more recent QC45. The SC , soft case? version at Costco was not a problem for me because I can just re-use the hard case of my QC35 ii. Both Bose and Costco have a generous return period, so no harm in trying it out. Hope this helps someone!

Bose recently removed the numbers so the latest version of their head phones are just QC and QC Ultra.
This $220 Costco QC SC version should be the latest QC but with soft case.
I received my $180 Costco QC SE. Overall very happy with it at that price point. The soft case vs hardcase should be no more than $20 price spread (meaning I would be paying at most $20 higher for a hardcase). I am perfectly happy with the soft case.
You can Google and find the reviews between the older QC45 vs newer QC vs newer QC Ultra.
Bose is selling QC at $250 on their website. I recommend to go with Costco.

You're not an audiophile because the sound quality on the B&W is better. Every serious audio listener noted this when comparing both. That said, the XM5 is still good, just not better performing than B&W unless you mean the ANC.

I have the xm5, I like the ANC in gym as well it's better performing in outdoor during phone calls. So it's very useful to me during work meetings. Oh I like how Sony has a sensitive ear cup to pause, play the next song or reduce volume etc where I don't have to touch a button to do that. also Sony pause or play when you take them off your head with ear detection, and I can customize the Sony to turn off ANC and pause when I'm talking with someone without having to take off the head.
However, B&W has better sound quality interms of tone, transparency, and soundstage. I do like their hard case but not their design.
