Movie theaters typically have ceilings higher than that. Your receiver will have adjustments to compensate for distance. The only issue is having a tall enough stepladder.

ETA: unless you're talking about using the tower-top Atmos speakers, in which case I can only speculate that the sound will be less localized compared with a lower ceiling.
Thanks. Yes, I'm gonna use the tower-tops. I'll give it a try. What do I got to lose except for money.

Do you mind sharing the Klipsch model? Are you pairing it with the Jamo towers?
I didn't have the Jamo towers, I was using the Jamo center with a set of large Sony SS-U431's. I purchased an R-34C center channel first (half price off Klipsch) and it made a huge difference. The Jamo was a bit bloated midbass and somewhat muddy. I then purchased R-620 towers to replace the old Sony boxes (Adorama deal last month for $420/pr.). All good, but then with the new AVR-X3300W I got off Goodwill, it sounds really great now. Paired with my older Klipsch SW-350 sub and Klipsch Promedia 5.1 spares as satellites for a 7.1 setup, I'm set for a while. Smilie

Yes, try it, but I believe the reflection effects are somewhat calibrated for a >10 ft ceiling IIRC.

Was in the market for a full speaker set for the new TV. Thanks OP, I grabbed this deal!

I'm wondering for the S803 Bookshelfs, I assume I'll need stands for them in the rear. Any recommendations for a good affordable option that's sturdy?

Also for the Atmos option. I have a slanted ceiling left to right in the living space where these would be set up with the TV stand. I assume that would affect the up firing speakers in how they reflect off the ceiling? Would there be a noticeable offset in sound?

I've seen this set for sale so many times, but never with the Atmos speakers, alas.

Thanks for the help! You've given me just the right amount to make a decision now and go off and do my own research. I really appreciate it!

I've thought about getting another soundbar to replace my aging one that doesn't do well with vocals (have to turn it up, then back down for loud scenes/music) but none of the "good" ones has all the HDMI inputs that mine has (4). Soundbar = blah, I know the concensus. I have future plans for a media dedicated room, so for the living room I prefer minimal speakers showing themselves. Maybe I need to get a Blackbird for HDMI and sound test some things.
Grab Kef q150 for bookshelf and any decent receiver you can find used locally. Daytona has good starter subs.

Don't start with this kit. Towers will be hard to get rid of and the bookshelves aren't worth bragging home.

Man wish they had a sale on the sub only
You can occasionally find it open box on their website. I scored one for $99 shipped a few weeks ago and it was practically brand new.

This or the definitive technology deal that is running at $750, that one is without sub n cost more. Could someone who is well versed with sound systems respond the comparison and any good deals if they hv come across? Thx

The $750 Def Tech system is only a 3 speaker system, so you'd still need surrounds and a sub. I have owned Def Tech systems in the past and have been suitably impressed, but used them primarily for music. If you're building your first system, I'd get the Jamos instead. It'll give you a good idea of what you like and you won't need to buy anything else except a receiver.

Those def techs are actual high end speakers. These jamo's are entry level budget speakers.
