Same but I've pawned off these hubs in the past on Fb Marketplace or eBay for like 20/30 bucks

Is this a hackable deal like homedepot? You get both items but you can return individually because they each have a return price?

I was looking at the r/hue thread on Reddit and was surprised to see how many people had 3-5 hubs because they've maxed them out. Though I've learned maxing out at 35-40 (which is 10 less than max), is preferred to not overwhelm them. Still, I'm nowhere near that and almost every bulb in my house is hue.

Nonetheless, can always sell it for $10-30 on Facebook marketplace or a similar app.

Just buy all Govee products. Phillips are ridiculous expensive. I have 26 Govee products and I love them.

Phillips has decided to stop local processing and switch to the cloud. Sorry Phillips but that's the last straw. Take your over priced crap and shove it!

$80 for the starter kit with 2 lights and the hub seems like a pretty good deal.

There is a reason Hue is what it is price wise. I've used Hue for almost 8 years without a single issue-no connection issues, no bulbs burning out, ect. They are extremely dependable. Also Hue uses the zigbee communication protocol where Govee eats up your network bandwidth because it's wifi connected. I absolutely despise having 5 million devices on my network. I'd rather use a dedicated hub...in my case a raspberry pi 4 running Home Assistant with a zwave/zigbee combo stick that all my devices talk to and it's completely independent of my network-as in none of my devices are connected to the network. They connect to my pi and my pi is the only device that communicates with the network. Extremely dependable in every way.

Don't think this is a great deal. Amazon has the light strip for 45 like new, and 75w bulbs for 34 like new. Most people don't need the hub.

Can you not just use them with straight ZigBee connection? I use my Phillips bulbs with home assistant over a standard ZigBee coordinator, and I bind them to ZigBee light switches. All local. Are they somehow removing this feature?

Are you sure about that? My hubs connect only to homekit and the hubs are blocked from the internet.

I have two hubs. Devices add up quick when you have landscaping lights and switches and motion sensors. It was great when a few years back they made it so you could add two hubs to your account. Prior to that you used to have to have two accounts.
