I don't believe this is the case. I cannot say for sure but I'm pretty sure I've signed up for promos mid stay and gotten the promo after checkout. I stay in Marriotts or Hiltons usually 100+ nights a year
Would you rather it not be posted again so that people that missed it the first time are unaware of the deal?

Basically, you have to book through Hilton or a traditional travel agent in order to be eligible for Hilton Honors (or most other hotel loyalty points, this is pretty consistent across chains)
In the few rare situations you do get points, it's because the hotel branch itself has a small amount of points allotted for incidentals awarded directly to your account and not due to your stay, but even that requires sales team and management approval.
Me too! The only perk offered, granted it is a nice one. But if your like me being in a hotel 40hrs a week makes ya not want to go to one on your days off.
