2/3 year warranty is $7/8 ....is it a good deal if getting the warranty and use it as a portable storage but have cloud/desktop/SAN backup?

This is not the model listed in the lawsuits. The ones listed in the lawsuits are various Extreme and Extreme Pro models as well as the Pro-G40 and Western Digital My Passport. I don't know if this model also suffers from the same issue(s) and I am trying to figure out when it was introduced. I've gone ahead and ordered one given the extended holiday return period. I'll leave it unopened until I decide to keep it or there's a deal on a Samsung T7.

Reminds me of when Comcast changed their name to Xfinity and all their issues went away
