At $600, this laptop deal is a sizzling hot and may be the laptop deal of the season.

I've been using this laptop multiple hours as a daily traveler since Feb 2023, and I absolutely love it. It's a solid 5-of-5 stars... and I paid $850 for it! Solid performance, good build, gorgeous display, bafflingly light weight, zero fan issues. Btw, I do mainly data science programming and other general work/professional type stuff with mine -- zero gaming, some youtube premium.
I would note four things:

Keyboard does NOT have the number pad and remaining QWERTY keys are centered relative to display (which is precisely the no-numpad config I was looking for).
My config ad said 400 nits, but my display came with 500 nits.
I occasionally run a VM or two a la HyperV -- acceptable user experience, but limited by the overall 16GB.
My early boot-up squawked cuz I needed to accept a bitlocker related config, but had not.

Emphasis #4: The issue is not with the unit -- it's basically asking if you want to proceed with the MS Win11 Pro bitlocker config.

Now that I've dropped this post, on to Costco.com to order a 2nd for Fedora Core 39 only config!
Hope this helps.

Why would "70% positive" matter at all when the problems are intolerable and affect your everyday workflow? Are you kidding me?

Do you think he only reads negative reviews when he didn't say "all reviews are bad", but rather "bad reviews"

I'm sure you can answer your own question kid.

Nice price, but bad reviews citing poor build quality and loud fans.

Great price/specs, but reviews on Acer build quality and fan noise makes me hesitant. It's Costco so easy returns, but is it worth the hassle?

"Intolerable" is pretty strong. I'm sure some folks could tolerate fan noise and/or take steps to reduce it (like disabling Ryzen turbo boost). Point taken though, that 30% is a lot of negative reviews. I still think $600 is a good price point for this machine, and would be headed to Costco if I didn't need a laptop with GPU.

I have the 6800u version which is essentially the same. It's pretty amazing how light it is. About the only thing I wish were better was the feel of the keyboard and peak loudness of the speakers

70% positive rate for a product isn't very good, honestly.

I had the 6800u version of this and the fans were ridiculously loud and whiny even while doing simple tasks like browsing. I wonder if the fan curve has been improved with the move to the 7735u.

What're your thoughts on the fan noise?
