got this set a couple of years back. while not your extreme top of the line speakers, they are worth the price.

There is a big difference. I believe in buy once cry once. Get the right one that you want and get the most you can afford. And don't have to lose on resale and change out etc.

How do you setup a room with these? I know that seems like a stupid question but, if the couch is touching a back wall and the tv is on another wall facing you, you obviously put the tall standing speakers on both sides of the tv stand. And the center speaker on top of the tv stand.
Where do the bookshelf speakers go? Are they meant to be rear speakers on both sides of the couch you're on? How do you avoid big wires running down away from the tv and to the couch?

Edit: for context, my current & very cheap setup has a subwoofer that plugs into the outlet by my couch, wirelessly connecting to the soundbar under the tv. And then the 2 rear speakers plug into the subwoofer! so all the cables at the rear are under the couch...

As others have said, these are pretty good. For the price you can't beat it. I have these sans the larger towers + their sub, couldn't be happier. Do it!

I'm pairing this one (Jamo S 809 5.0 Home Cinema Pack, Black)
with Denon AVR-S760H 7.2-Channel Home Theater AV Receiver 8K Video Ultra HD 4K/120 - (New 2021) (from Amazon)
For cabling ---- I have some left from years ago from Amazon 100ft 12 Gauge Speaker Wire - Cable in Spool for Connecting Audio Stereo to Amplifier, Surround Sound System, TV Home Theater and Car Stereo - Pyramid RSW12100

My wiring is not under the carpet, but go through the nearest wall with wire square tubing tube with white color match to my wall, then go into the Book Shelf Speaker at both side of the coach. Luckily, for me the TV is close to a wall and the coach is near another so the wiring is kinda "melting" into the wall.

I bought this set on Amazon a couple years back and returned them. For movies with a fuller range it's pretty great. But I did find the center channel lacking. It has a warm base and mids are good. However I did find the highs to be lacking.

For movies I think they're rock solid. But for someone that streams or does TV series more than movies I cannot suggest this package. The center channel was just too lacking and oftentimes the other speakers will absolutely overpower. This of course can be circumvented with increasing db or more importantly repositioning but if space is an issue (it is for me) then this set isn't for you.
In the past, this set came with the smaller S81 center, which was stupid IMO. This set come with the S83 that has the same drivers as the other speakers for better timbre matching and balance with the other speakers.

I bought the set, but upgraded the center to the one included here. It made a huge difference. For movies, I found these phenomenal. Not really lacking anywhere. But for music, they weren't the best. Mids were kinda muddy and unrefined. So I eventually upgraded to a Triangle Borea system that's equally good for movies and much better for music. But it cost a lot more, too. I don't think you're going to find anything that sounds as good as these in this price range.

Ah that makes more sense now. I'll admit I didn't do much research and bought on a whelm and just quickly returned as I was unsatisfied.

Short answer, yes. But you could pay less and add a subwoofer of your choosing.

I have not listened to these speakers but I have used Sony speakers, the Sony CS series and was very impressed with them.

I have been using Monoprice premium 10565 5.1 which sounds great plus Sony CS series as well. Very impressed with towers and center.

Now I am using monolith T6 towers with monolith C5 encore center. Love it.
