It is an Internet gateway with FW/IPS/NAT and a switch all in one (no WiFI). This gets you into the Ubiquiti system with its ability to manage other Ubiquiti devices centrally. It is what many would consider prosumer networking gear since you are using a separate Internet gateway, access points, POE switches, etc.

Came here to post this! I picked up a UDMP for the same price (during their BF sale) and couldn't be happier.

Other great offers:

Can someone tell me a little more what someone like me uses this for?. I run a few POE cameras with onboard storage, a pihole, personal devices, want to get a NAS, a tplink wifi access point, mikrotik router and a Netgear POE switch.
Literally all of that minus NAS.

Has anyone successfully configured their UDMP/SE as a Wireguard client to connect to Nord/PIA/Proton/Mullvad? I've been waiting for an OS update to natively support this functionality and have been monitoring the release notes but haven't seen it yet.

Currently using OPNSense with a few VLANs that route a few specific devices' traffic through a Wireguard privacy VPN and looking to keep that functionality.

Thanks for your time.

Replaced my USG-3 with a UDM-Pro in the last 2 weeks. Saw a throughput increase from ~600 mbps to ~950 mbps on a 1 gbps fiber line. Did a direct transfer from offsite remote backup into Network restore, no other settings changed. Very, very pleased.
Assuming your USG was doing traffic inspection? Only reason i could see you being limited. I hit 995Mbps routinely for mine

Seconding this while I debate on if I want to upgrade to udm-pro for what I am doing.

My setup is:

Fios -> USG -> PFSense A
___________-> PFSense B

For failover and testing purposes. I was seeing close to full gigabit out of the USG (without IDS), mainly dependent on which test server was being used for speed tests.

I'd lose the pfsense redundancy going with this device, but I'd great simplify some other aspects of the network switching to everything within the unifi ecosystem... decisions LMAO

What does `3.5+ Gbps routing with IDS/IPS` mean? Does it mean that despite 10Gbe ports it can only operate at 3.5 Gbs speed?

I'm going to give this a shot: The dumbed-down version is that the firewall is capable of 3.5+ Gbps. If you turn off the firewall, it would be the full 10Gbe throughput (though since most home connections max out at 1 Gbps, it's not a huge deal).

IPS = Intrusion Prevention System
IDS = Intrusion Detection System

Any Poe recommendations to go with the nvr? Is it also possible to use Hikvision cameras with the nvr?

He actually used the UDM SE, not the pro Smilie

But I do believe is normal setup for his house is the pro.

Not sure how he is still married after shenanigans like that. Yvonne is a very understanding wife and he should count his blessings Smilie

Unless someone has hacked it, it's unifi cameras only. And for POE, if you want full control, get a unifi poe switch.

This is supported. I am connected to my VPN provider via WG and have specific device's traffic routed through it only.

Thank you, repped.
If it's on a LAN, especially it's own VLAN, IPS/IDS should not be needed, correct?
