Would appreciate some comments from the pros here. We ordered one since I have been staring at the Honda forever but couldn't justify the price. The last deal I saw on this was 20 TU at $200-340

Can't give experience with this specific model, but inverter generators, and generators in general:

1) Use non-ethanol gas, which you have to pump with care: Put the first half gallon from the pump in your vehicle, so you don't get the previous customer's ethanol gas. Then fill your fuel jug.

2) When stopping the generator after you are finished using it, don't use the engine shut off button, if the generator is equipped with one. Use the fuel valve to cut off the gasoline. The generator will run for another 3 to 30 seconds, depending on the way it's set up, and then run out of gas. That keeps the carb free of gasoline during storage.

3) Change the oil at the intervals indicated in the manual. I prefer synthetic oil.

Follow the above three guidelines, and MOST generators will start easily and run well over any type of reasonable lifetime.

For what it's worth, ebay still has the refurbs for $231.55 shipped with coupon code SAVEONGIFTS, code ends 12/12 and price is still just $249 plus whatever taxes and such

Somebody on the fence, who doesn't need or want one right away, might decide to roll the dice and wait for a better deal.

Good tips, although around here all the Ethanol free gas pumps are solo, as in only Ethanol free gas comes out of them.... I also would recommend using Stabil or similar also, unless you plan to use the generator all the time, then it's probably not necessary.

That is assuming you received a running one. I got a dud, which eBay told me to keep, which is still sitting in my garage.

Which makes me think......

I should buy the costco one....

Swap all the guts with my non-running one......

And return to Costco........

All Costco is going to do is send it back to Firman anyways, who screwed me on the last one.

In for 1

Bet if you open it up to swap things you will find the problem. Then you have two!

Got this for 200 refurb. I can't recommend at 300. Barely can put out the rated 1600. I was getting an overload light at 1500 in certain conditions. It's quiet with no load but under load, it sounds like a moped.

If you do get it, read up on the issues with the intake being on the bottom and sucking sand.
