I'd like to support an American company that hires NU ECE grads. Any personal reviews?

I wouldn't pay 100 for any average headphones.

Unnecessary attention grabbing design. That might be deal breaker for me.

alright stop setting off my thread alerts! I just want to know whether this can hold me over from paying $229 from costco or $239 for the bose SE or the B&Ws

I didn't see this deal on SD but was curious about the Shure Aonic 40 from some reviews I had read. I had been looking for a good over-ear headphone and initially ordered a refurbished Bose 45 from Bose through eBay. Great comfort, great ANC, very decent sound, horrible outdoors wind noise. I returned them to Bose.

When I saw the reviews of the Aonic 40, I knew that it was not going to be a Shure Aonic 50 or 50 Gen 2 or any other $350-$400 headphones. But still ... $99? I took a chance, ordered from Amazon, and they arrived today. I doubt there is another set of headphones with this build quality and sound for less than $150, and the ANC on these is very adequate for my purpose.

They're not quite as comfortable as the Bose 45, but the sound is every bit as good if not better, and, unlike the Bose 45, you can turn off the ANC so that you're not amplifying the wind noise into the ear cups. I've been very tempted to buy the new Bose QuietComforts for the $249 sale price, but the wind block feature on the new QC's is the primary improvement over the QC45 (I'm a bit put out with Bose for never giving the QC45 via a firmware update the ability to turn off the ANC). I may change my mind over the next few days, but I'm not sure that I want to pay an additional $150 for better ANC and a little better comfort. At $99, the Aonic 40 is really hard to beat.
