Seriously everyone should do this. iPads are nowhere near maximizing the chips they have so just get the oldest one with M1 and you're good

It's been at this price for a couple months now.

Picked one up last time. For my needs, 64GB is plenty and don't see the value in paying more for Pro features. Most folks would probably be in a similar boat.

Though it can a bit jarring sometimes to go from my 120Hz ProMotion iPhone to the 60Hz iPad Air, it's still plenty bright and clear for browsing and media consumption.

The M1 chip is absolutely underutilized. For that reason, new iPad Air with upgraded processor is less appealing. Personally, I see it as future proofing for upcoming iPadOS releases when the device will invariably slow down with new software.

Picked this up at this price a few months ago. It's nice, the bonded display makes a difference if you're into digital art. It's plenty fast and 64gb is fine for my needs. You can always use usb or network/cloud storage.

Apple air 5 is great but note it was effectively $450 over the summer ($550-$100 apple credit) for the back to school special. I opted for the 64gb 10th Gen and don't have any space or speed issues.
