I have the YAS-108/ATS-1080, essentially same as this model with a couple of minor cosmetic changes. Purchased in 2019 when I upgraded to a larger display (Vizio P-75).
It will offer a definite improvement in sound over the built-in speakers. Sound is fuller with notably more depth and bass, provided you don't try to push it too hard. I liked the Yamaha so much that I even considered picking up a second one to use as a space efficient wall mounted blue tooth speaker in another room for casual listening. Saying that, it does not replace a dedicated home theater system if you want a room filling immersive experience.
BTW, I have the Vizio integrated into a robust 5.1 home entertainment sound system with a true 700W amp which I rarely use, only turning the HTS on when watching movies. The Yamaha sound bar is more than adequate for normal use.
About the only negative is that I could never get the ARC to work reliably with my display and finally attached through the analog inputs, not a very elegant solution but sounds fine and rock solid.
Bottom line, for $100, this is a very good sound bar, very convenient and more than adequate sound.

I bought one to use as a Bluetooth speaker for music streaming in a small office environment. It works great! Clean sound and plenty of volume.
I ve owned one of these for the basement TV for a while now. Its ok. If you're primarily looking to amplify the sound with a bit more bass than the TV speakers can produce it does the job. Aside from it lacking range it's overly boomy to me, even when changing the settings. In other words: you just want loud - these are great - they do crank out a lot of volume.
also-be sure to update the firmware. You can dl the one thats made for the original model name & the Costco model from the Yamaha website.

I love the rather liberal use of the term "subwoofer" on 3" drivers.
Great price.

They don't ever label it, but seems like a 2.1 system
