I just tried a few different options with the DC to New York leg and the lowest I found was for $64 during off peak times (7PM). by the time I add others in my family, the fare shoots up. Still not a bad deal and beats the cost of a plane ticket but I have not been successful with these fares in the past, or this time based on peak travel.
The worst part is delays due to cargo trains owning the rails. We need our own high-speed rail system here in the US!
