32 bit won't solve all your problems and those units cost significantly more. If recorded properly, you won't be able to tell the difference, especially since your end product will need to be downsampled anyway.

This thing is absolutely awesome, worth every penny even at full price. The plug in mic that comes with it is very good.

Yes. The value is really in those 4 XLR inputs, to use whatever microphone you want. The onboard mics really are a poor man's audio setup, but could work in a pinch. They will certainly do a much better job than any on-camera microphone at recording ambiance.

Another use case would be recording background sound or foley. I'd recommend attaching it to a tripod for the former and a gorilla pod or pistol grip for the latter. (anything to dampen handling sound, which the H6 will most certainly pick up).

One more use case would be voice-over. Be sure to use the foam filter to cover the XY mics. make sure the mics are 5-6 inches away from your mouth, and speak across the mic rather than into it. Only attempt this in a controlled space. A clothes closet works well. The idea is to only record in a place that minimizes/absorbs room reflections. You could also throw a blanket over your head and the H6. I'd also recommend only using 1 microphone for this. Just turn off one channel in post-production.

Just some thoughts. It really is a swiss army knife. So get creative.
