If you had the 45mm Series 7, the screen size is "almost" the same (1.9" vs 1.92" or 1143 sq mm vs 1164 sq mm). 45mm vs 49mm is the measurement of the case, and Ultra has a thick bezel to fill the gap.
I can testify the screen and overall look is significantly different/better on the Ultra 2. It's so much bigger and solid looking.

We got an open-box excellent Ultra 2 from
Best Buy with Toal membership (AppleCare+ included) for 662+taxes during Black Friday. If it comes back to around that I'd recommend picking that up as an open-box.

At or around that price we justified it with the following:

- Brighter screen
- More durable/scratch resistance
- Miscellaneous additional features (siren specifically just in case)
- Chase Freedom card (or Best Buy card) offers 18-24m 0% interest

Lastly, we do a lot of 3rd party sales with tech. In our area, the Ultra 1 is selling for ~575-615 currently. I figure for 700 after tax with an open-box + AppleCare, we only lose roughly 100 bucks when we're ready to sell in 2 years. Compared to the S8 in our area that has dropped about 175.

So in 2 years, an ultra is cheaper in the long run and at 0% interest we're paying 39/month.

Hope that helps!

I got a new 45mm series 8 for $230 yesterday, should I return and get this sale? Anyone know if the double tap feature is worth it for this one
Double tap works on 8 series right now?

Oh, there's no question that the Ultra 2 is a bigger watch. I just wanted to point out that the actual screen size is negligibly bigger compared to 45mm Series 7/8/9 watches, in case someone was thinking that they'll be getting a lot bigger screen. Of course, it has ton of other outdoor/sports oriented features that appeal to people who are the target audience for this watch.

Gotcha. It's so weird that the maths math out to it being negligible, but for some reason we were just blown away when we opened my wife's Ultra 2 and compared it with a friend's S9 45mm.

You can do an accessibility feature to enable it, but the "new" feature is released for the S9/Ultra 2

I got one with the same deal but trail loop days ago, it will arrive around 12/20. Is it worth to cancel that and order this one instead?

Thats because the Ultra/Ultra 2 have a fairly noticeable black bezel. Include this black bezel and the casing border around the screen.

If it's not the band you want, add $ 100 to the price. I recently bought the trail loop band for my series 7. Very comfortable. Very fast to put on and off. The others look they may take more time to put on and off. Can be bad when you are in a hurry.

The advantage in buying from Apple is getting the band you want.

I mainly got the series 9 because i use siri often. Not sure what offline siri can do but i believe this is the first generation to offer it (including the ultra 2)

i know these watches are a ton of more capabilities, but i just wonder if most users actually use them. I just bought a 30 dollar Tozo watch, and I've had some nicer watches in the past and this does the same as those older ones. my only regret is that its just black with a black strap. i love my one watch that looks like a proper watch, even if that means the screen is round. anyway, i strongly recommend anyone looking for a smart watch to at least look at some of the cheap ones. could save you a shit ton, but of course you can't show of your apple watch...ugh

Link, or was it a one-shot deal?
Target had a one-day sale for it yesterday, I picked one up in the store. They did not have for shipping, you must go to store and pick up

If you have to go that hard on your justification maybe you don't actually need the Ultra lol
