I got a similar one from ebay for $130. It looks the same as the one posted here. It's very loud and slow. There is no dust collection system but you can print it from a file from thingiverse (search for cnc 3018 accessories or upgrades). It took me 2-3 hours to assemble. I use Easle to run the cut since I have free 3 year subscription for x-carve but you can use other free softwares as well.
If you need to cut small stuff using woods, then it will do the job. Overall, it's a decent little machine to get you into CNC. But if you want to get into something bigger like woodworking, I'd get an x-carve or shapeoko or onefinity

Are we married to the same woman? I finally got our laser engraver working (had to rewire connections) long enough to smoke up the house…a year ago. Now it sits idle next to the Brother vinyl cutter and two laminators.

Yes, but very slowly and with multiple cutter changes.

If you want to do aluminum regularly, search for its bigger brother (CNC3040) or research gantry and spindle upgrades.
Aight, is there any place I should start looking at?

These types of CNC's are alright with soft woods, but forget about milling aluminum without at least breaking multiple bits. Mine has just been sitting in a box for over a year now because it's pretty useless outside of engraving.

Oh man I was going to cut some CGI and inconel.

This would be good for wax. If you get some PCD maybe aluminum would cut ok.

Yeah, I don't think the spindle is strong enough for CGI or inconel. You can always buy this CNC, upgrade its spindle and bits, but at the end of the day it's still a low end hobbyist machine. You're better off saving money for a better CNC.

There needs to be a club for this type of stuff... currently collecting dust on my wife's "work bench" - laser engraver, cameo 4 pro, and a large sublimation press. I think the last time she used any of them was 6 months ago...

I use all 3 of those in my business. In just a few weeks she can turn that dust into 💰💰

Is this good for learning CNC machining? I want to get into the trade but not sure if this would help me along.
great for learning concepts. i started out on 3018 and recommend that over this, which appears very similar

Which laser engraver do you suggest?

Right there with ya fellas, my wife gets excited about a new hobby (me too thinking she will find something to do) then once the learning curve goes past turning the device on and setting it up the spark is gone and it sits in the hobby/craft grave yard.

Maybe we can create a page to sell these things. My daughter is begging me for a sublimation machine but I don't wanna pay a lot for it to sit on a 15 YOs desk next to her cricuit thing.

Buy her a 3D printer for printing anime dolls. Ours went a year before it went quiet. I had even modded the board for quiet operation and set up an octoprint server.

I'll happily accept any of these shipped to me from someone who doesn't use or want theirs.
