One should know this is a "training" knife for the seals... this is not their deployment gear. .... there is a difference. This is also a "version," meaning it looks the same, but materials/metals are not.

Who am I? .. former knife distributor in the US and UK. I supplied knives and specialty equipment to the US Troops and British SAS and SBS that were made in the US.
The cold steel is issued "for training" for BUDS ... there are also different "versions" of the knife. Versions = materials used in manufacturing to meet consumer price points/requirements.

Personally, I was never a fan of Cold Steel products. I've seen way too many broken/returned products of theirs. They have a great advertising team, though that can hype a product 😉 👏 😀.

Rule of thumb.... take a 100.00 knife and its normal dealer cost is 50.00.. volume dealers/distributors are around 40.00-45.00.

You get what you pay for in a knife... you can also drastically overpay as well, thanks to great marketing.

In all honesty, take a look at Bark River Knife and Tool (BRKT). They aren't cheap... you won't find them on box store shelves, but it will be a knife that will last and be designed for the task at hand.
For a few dollars more, Chicago Knife Works has the Cold Steel SRK-C ✌️

Mora is a great lightweight consumer priced camp knife.. I keep a Companion with my gear.. lightweight, relatively rust resistant and holds a semi decent edge all at a value price point. I used to sell the brand.. but I would consider it a backup if I was doing any wilderness survival, not a primary.
You seriously can't tell me with a straight face that you would take this knife over the Companion. Have you seen how many torture tests Moras have been put through?

Mine came without an edge and it won't take one. I literally took it out of the package and could not cut self if I tried. Heck I could have probably run it back and forth on my tongue

"One should know this is a "training" knife for the seals"

This doesn't make and sense. SEALs do not use these knives for "training". Training consists of equipment actually used in the field with some alterations to make safe.

Using an inferior knife like this while training is dangerous as it may chip, break, or worse, not cut when it HAS to cut e.g. getting caught on something.

The trainers we use for hth are aluminum knives with purposely dull edges and blunted tips.

How do I know? I assisted in training JSOC/Coronado on edged weapons/weapons of opportunity.
