Seems like a good price. I'm holding out for a 4k short throw even if this is tempting.

You should check out the details on the throw ratio for this one. It's basically a short throw projector, just not "ultra short throw".

7 feet is unfortunately too far for my current use case. I'll wait a bit longer

Would this work as an upgrade from my ht2150st? I'd like to have the same distance. I'm at about 6ft now for a 105" screen

The ultra short throw projectors don't say whether they are ceiling mountable.
Keeping on a table/desk is not an option for many of the existing setups.

Why does everyone want ultra short throw?

Probably cause most people can put them on a stand that's usually under the TV they currently use. Then they remove the TV from the wall and install a screen. I'm going to do this once 3 laser UST drop to 1k.

Yeah why is this getting no traction. New projector, well reviewed, almost half off. Something I am missing?

Add: no color wheel and supports 3D to your list. Benq just released 4x new similar projectors of 2000-3000 lumens. This one is 1500. Could that be the reason?

https://www.projectorcentral.com/...Review.htm

My guesses from the review, which puts it at good but not amazing:

Not real 4k, it's shifting. I bet a lot of us are holding out for true 4k before dropping $1k

Even without the color wheel, the DLP process used means the rainbow effect is present for some (though only some see RBE, I am unfortunately such a person)

The shape is weird. Doesn't seem like an easy swap with your existing projector mount.

Anyone with short throw 1080p also can't upgrade to this without moving the mount.

And yeah, not as bright as others per the review. At the price it's probably still a nice buy as long as you aren't prone to RBE headaches.

Ok but people are picking up the Epson 3800 and 4010 refurb priced higher than this. Apart from lumens this seems comparable or better. If I was gonna drop 1k in the next couple of months for a projector what would I be waiting for?

I think those Epson models are also pixel shifters, but they are "3LCD" so no Rainbow Effect
