I ported out my wife's number from Lyca with just one call to Xfinity. No issue whatsoever.
The only bad thing about Lyca is sometimes incoming calls go straight to VM. Maybe issues with some missing bands.

And they try to find 100 reasons to not release your number when you want to port out. They will literally give stupid reason to not give you pin number. Horrible experience when porting out.
Just finally got my PIN and account number after answering several questions. If you want to port out, do remember your frequent call numbers(at least two), the amount you pay and date, the payment methods you are using (like the last four digits of cc) and also your sim card number.

Have been a Lyca customer since 2015. Finally ported out Oct 2023. It was good back then. But, now become worst. Lyca does not support Wi-Fi calling on Apple devices. Lyca also does not support e-SIM feature, which means you cannot use it on any latest Apple devices (iPhone 13 and above). Horrible customer service they ask you your address proof, ID proof, DOB and many more just to get your communication address updated.

They recently moved to a new looking website, in which they removed most of the self service tasks like address update, autopay removal, credit card update, Wi-Fi calling feature and more.

Stay away from Lyca. They make it impossible to get your account PIN for porting out. Also if you are traveling, service is very spotty. No WiFi calling.

Boost mobile has $15 3 months SIM at Bestbuy, Target etc. OR you can even order from Amazon.

SD is pumping this scam company again. They will not allow you to port the number out ever, and won't stop billing you even after you cancel the service. Read up BBB complaints on this company
ive never had a problem. if i turn off autopay it stops paying and i lose the autopay discount for that month. you have to do that to change credit cards, unfortunately.

last two times ive bought a year of service in one go, comes out to like 10 dollars a month.

i try not to use 250mb of data a month.

ive been using it for like 10 years with no problems

Tello is far better than this. Quality and reliability is good. It offers unlimited international talk and text. I recently started using the service and I am loving it

I was on Lyca for about 5 years without any issues. When I moved to Tello couple of years ago, I was able to cancel Autopay and port out my number without any issues.

virtual credit card?
Any reputable company would not make an excuse and cancel you out and not charge you after your agreement ends. But then again this is America the land of scammers and cutthroats and any time someone can screw you over, they take no time to stick the knife in and twist till your bone dry. God bless America. The land of the Rich that Screws over the poor making bank and happiness for the scum of the earth.

DON'T go with these guys. Was unable to discontinue the service even after the contract period. They take forever to remove the auto pay.
I cancelled Auto-renewal by dialing *190# and entering 1 to confirm the cancelation; App / website still shown that Auto-renewal is ON. but it didn't deduct in my next payment date. I have done this on November 2023 renewal period. Hope it will work for you as well.
