And they try to find 100 reasons to not release your number when you want to port out. They will literally give stupid reason to not give you pin number. Horrible experience when porting out.
Had a similar experience, they made me jump through hoops to verify by asking the 3 numbers I call most frequently. I've never even called 3 numbers as I use iMessage and WhatsApp for most of my calls. Ended up having to make a bunch of calls to my utility companies just so that I can give Lyca the numbers. Called them up after, still didn't accept my numbers, turns out I had to wait 24 hours before they can register the numbers. Almost all other companies use OTP they text you back on the number. I agree with the commenter above that they use all the tactics they can to make it difficult for you to port-out. AVOID AVOID AVOID
T-mobile has prepaid plans starting at 10$ per month with 1.5 GB of data and 1000 minutes per month. OR 15$ per month with more data and unlimited talk.
Lyca is not worth the effort it takes to disconnect your service.
Do you have a link? The cheapest I see on the T-mobile website is 10GB for $40/mo.
I'm planning to use this overseas to receive text SMS messages.. I just chatted with Lyca support and they said I can receive SMS overseas if I add $10 of "international credit" which seems stupid.. but they also said I can later get the $10 refunded back to my card.. is this correct or are they lying to me?
My plan would be to port this number to Google Voice before the 3 months is finished but reading the comments here.. it sounds like you need to call at least 3 numbers because that will be verified when you port out. As long as you call at least 3 numbers and remember those numbers then it should be fine porting to this Google Voice?
Im going to do this and use a card i dont use like my varo card or something. They can charge it after 3 months it'll be empty anyway 😂 giving them a taste of their own medicine
Just beware you may lose your Lyca number to scammers. They can port out your number to unknown carrier without your permission. Many of my friends lost their Lyca numbers and money from their bank accounts…, never Lyca again…
What is the e-sim trick? I thought Lyca does not support e-sims.
They don't, I think the e-sim trick means - say to the customer care - since they don't support e-sim, need to port out. Then they will provide PIN without any further questions
