These thinline Yamahas are an incredible value for their ease of playing and their plugged in sound is outstanding at this price point. Definitely not the loudest accoustic but being a cutaway thinline that is totally to be expected. I use one when I travel for business and they are great for that. Highly recommend! Thanks OP

But I don't claim to be an expert, just my opinion based on my own experience: For a beginner that's going to play acoustic, absolutely! Because of its thinline body it feels a little less intimidating than a full size acoustic. It's one of the easiest acoustics to play. I can't argue with a comment to buy a Taylor for high quality as I own one of those too...absolutely love it but it was WAY more than $289. But for a low investment beginner guitar, yes this is great. There are cheaper options out there too, but this is a good balance of playability versus price.
No such thing as a beginner guitar. Only guitars that are more than you can afford. Get a Taylor if you like value
I would hardly call Taylor's "value". Eastman and Larivee make similar quality guitars for 20-40% less than a Taylor. Breedlove too, though I'm less of a fan. Still Taylor is not "value" by any means. The Baby Taylor isn't great. GS Mini is the least expensive decent one they make. Entry level $600.

Luckily I usually travel alone, or with other non-management employees :-)
