16:9, 350 nits
Not a bad screen, but higher end laptops are 16:10 with 500 nits
You have no current/last year Gen gaming laptop currently below $900-1000 which has a 500-nits display. Even the majority of the more expensive gaming laptops have a 300-350 nits display. 300-nits is still plenty bright and totally acceptable at this price.

The 16:9 ratio is the main issue and the older processor. Other than that, it's a very decent offering at this price.

So a few weeks ago I purchased a Dell G15 5535. It has similar specs (hard drive 512gb instead of 1tb ) but the Dell has a Ryzen 7 7840HS vs this which has a 7735HS. Dell was the same price as this. Should I return the Dell
For this since it's from Costco and it includes an extended warranty and great return policy or stick with Dell?
The 7840HS is a much better chip. Keep it.

It is. This was this same price at MC around a month ago; you can check the detailed (and correct specs) over there: https://slickdeals.net/f/17083270-microcenter-in-store-lenovo-legion-5-15-6-wqhd-165hz-ryzen-7-7735hs-rtx-4060-16gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-799-99
So close to pulling the trigger on that one at the time...but really wanted the 7840HS. Much better CPU, and can game very well on just the integrated 780M for battery powered gaming on the go.

A few pointers on this deal. 7735HS is not a new gen processor, but a refresh of the 5720 or so from AM3 line, or something like that i belive. Your also not going to be gaming long with a 60 w/h battery and a 135w gpu, maybe 2 hours tops. The 300 nits screen is not that great, but fine for home use. In a brightly lit environment, you'll probably want an external monitor plugged in. Otherwise, for the price, great deal.

I had the 2021 model before playing around briefly with this exact listed model, and this was sleeker, lighter (5.0 lbs.), and had a better build quality then the 2021 Legion 5. I found a great deal on an open box g14 or I might have kept the Legion 5. It appeared to be the full 140 watts on the RTX 4060, but the Zen 3+ CPU couldn't keep up.
Are you saying the CPU bottlenecks? What tasks couldn't the Zen 3 keep up with? Gaming?

Do we know if it's possible to upgrade the battery from 60wh to 80wh? I can't find any pictures or videos of the interior of this model to confirm.

Seems like a good deal. Maybe not worth $250 more than the Dell g15 gaming laptop deal after Black Friday but solid if anyone missed that.
It's worth $250 just to not have to deal with Dell.

Is the 7735HS equivalent to a Intel i5?

Looks like a really nice legion 5 gaming laptop for this year at this price ...love the sleak design, good specs, and weight is ok at 5.3lbs on par with other 15.6 gaming laptops over the years.

How to order this without a membership and not get hit with the non member surcharge? I am over 2 hours away from a costco so a membership does not make sense.

Only way would be to have a friend with a membership order it for you.

Thanks for the response. No friends though unfortunately who would have a membership.
