Try Exoficio underwear. It's meant for serious hiking. They're pricey per pair, but once you experience how well they prevent SWASS (Swamp A$$), you'll want to replace all your undies for Exoficio brand.

I've tried polyester on and off over the years, and sweat seems to turn acidic, and I end up with boils over time. Spandex and cotton, or just cotton, seems to be OK. But polyester really fks me up. It's like wearing a time bomb. I thought modal would work better, but that pills after a few washing cycles.
It sucks because I walk about 20 football fields a day, and chafing is a real problem when sweating your ass off.
If anyone has a suggestion about a new fabric that works, I'd love to hear it.

Synthetic fabric is the best option for sports, only if in a short period of time. Cotton is still the best for long time comfort, only if not too much activity. In yr case, perhaps cotton/polyester blend may save yr day. Some ppl said 30/70 is the best, some said is 50/50, really depends on yr own skin feeling. U may hv to try out yrself. Or, just go back the traditional way, changing underwear more frequently during work.

A friend told me that deodorant on inner legs works for chafing. I have tried it. It helps but i am quite sure there must be a purpose made product to apply there.

I tried a pair of merino wool boxers from smartwool and I'm slowly converting them all to merino wool. As far as staying dry, with no stink, there is nothing better. Its great as a natural fiber that has better performance at moisture wicking than cotton. It doesn't stink because it has natural antibacterial properties. Oh, and don't think wool means hot and uncomfortable. It regulates temps really well and I use these while hiking and backpacking.

I am all looking into merino wool products. Would you use merino wool boxers (or even base layer) during summer? To me, wool just means that it is for cold weather and won't work in summer months. Thanks.

I used ExOfficio for a while, and they're really good, but also oddly slick feeling to me. I prefer a feel close to cotton. Personally, over all the others I've tried in most price ranges, I really like the Duluth Trading Dang Soft boxer briefs. They are micromodal, but I've had some pairs for literally years and the color has definitely faded, but everything else seems to be pretty solid. And for me, they really are the best boxer briefs I've ever worn. Even in high humidity summers walking for an hour or two at a clip.

6" in blue is the same deal if you like them a little shorter than 8.5". (On with the jokes.)
