Man, I bought this on clearance from Walmart in 2016 for $95. How times have changed. I really need a new one but can't justify the price.

Why do you prefer the smaller one? I'm not sure which size would be better?
This one is much more efficient and easier to move than the bigger size. If you like cooking for others and larger gatherings get the biggest also you can easily transfer the racks to kettle for reverse searing smoked items. Works well for ribs chicken, etc.

Wait, are you just dropping the rack all the way down after taking the middle section off the grill off to grill?

Yup, I bought mine in 1997. Still works and looks great. Won't mention the price I paid as it's irrelevant. It makes fantastic BBQ. Pros use and win BBQ comps using the WSM cooker (e.g., Harry Soo). There is also a fantastic site dedicated to it and its use (search virtual Weber bullet) that has recipes, videos, how to tips, etc. If you want to make great BBQ and can afford it, you can't go wrong with this.

I have a wsm. id recommend against this and just purchase a bronco. the prices are similar but the build quality is much better on the bronco.

These no doubt make some great bbq but since Weber went through all their ownership changes, they've lost their mind on pricing.

A good alternative, if you don't need something big, is a Chargiller Acorn. It'll do awesome bbq and crazy high heat grilling too. And since it's insulated, it works better in cold weather and uses less fuel all around.

My son bought me the 18" size for Christmas. We cooked a 10 lb brisket on it, no problem. It's a sizeable unit. Unless you are cooking really huge hunks of meat, I doubt you would need the 21" jobby.

Ignorant question:

What can this do that a weber original kettle can't do?

What can a kamado grill do that this can't do?

Unless you're needing more space, there's no reason to grab this. Even then, you'd want a 22. Stick with your Kettle and grab one of these [spidergrills.com] for easy mode smoking and grilling.

I was deciding between this and the 22" model and I am glad I went for the bigger version. If you need to smoke a brisket you would want the 22" model. Folks say 22" takes too much fuel, no if you use the snake method.

Not sure if Walmart will take care if there is anything wrong the the grill.
I've been watching on this for a while and just couldn't justify buying it at around $400.
It's the best price I have seen this year.
Ya... the electronics are always failing on these things, plus no hdmi.

I actually prefer my 21 to the 18 better air flow
Yes.... you'll never regret having some extra space, even if you end up never needing it. Strange statement by that person.

I wouldn't consider that an alternative if you plan on smoking a lot.. at least not a good alternative. I have owned both.
