Ok, been there before. Don't be discouraged by some comments here. I disagree about lack of use.

Use cases. This fits everyone for the most part per their own preferences

1. You are outside probably grocery store and someone calls you. Do you want to pick up phone from your pocket every time? I don't. FYI, Apple Watch call quality is awesome. I don't mean taking every call but there are times you don't want to touch phone every freaking time
2. If you have 2FA or MFA setup for online accounts you can handle all these approvals and notifications from watch
3. Someone texted you and you kept phone somewhere, do you want to get up from that comfy couch just to check who it is?
4. Kids throw phone under bed or somewhere, how do you find it? Great feature that pings so you can find apple devices easily
5. Just remembered something important and wanted to quickly call without having to get phone from desk or somewhere? Hey siri from watch to call someone and you are all set
6. Last but not least, general notifications check from your watch to make sure someone doesn't have urgency rather than keep going for phone every time just solves all sorts of problems. Imagine while driving? Simple glance on the watch and you can peacefully drive without stopping or thinking about it

Phew, what else I have used it for?

Does this help? Do it. You will be the best version of yourself for $200-$300. If it was crazy expensive like $400-$600 I would not have pushed you or others.

Yes, I think battery capacity is roughly the same (only so much you can do with the same form factor) between the last few models. Just checked my series 4 battery health and it's 82%. I use my watch pretty much 24/7 for what you mentioned as well as tracking my daily workouts. I charge it twice a day: while I'm getting ready in the morning and while I'm getting ready for bed at night - I top it off and then put it back on. It will not last the whole day without charging it at least once, but it honestly hasn't been a big deal. Hoping that the new chipset and efficiency improvements will make a difference... I could probably keep going with this watch since it does everything I need but like I said the new one is coming as a gift Smilie
Thanks! 82% battery health even after years of frequent top off is good. From some reviews I've seen, Apple used up whatever efficiency was gained in the 9 to "improve" features such as screen brightness and size and some others I can't recall, resulting in similar or same battery life as previous series, and reviews say not much can be done about it by the user besides using the low power mode which for me disables too many useful functions. I'll probably order a 45mm 9 with the Sport Loop today, my first Apple watch. I can live with the battery top off nuisance if it doesn't bring battery health to below 80% after three or four years, after that I'd probably want a new one with better tech anyways.

EDIT: I just saw that Series X coming out next year is expected to be a "big upgrade" and said to be worth the wait. Maybe will wait another year, but then I won't have use of an Apple watch for another year...

Is there a real need for apple watch anyone of you found? We bought an apple watch 5 years back (probably Gen 1 or 2) and worn that only like 5 times, its still sleeping in the shelf. Biggest problem is I don't need to wear the watch when I'm home (work from home mostly) then when I need to wear it to go out, there is no charge or no time to charge asap. Don't care for steps (imo it's absurd to track steps for health, better metric is 150 minutes of medium intensity workout every week). Don't care for constant ECG/ oxygen levels. Wondering if there is a good use case or need you all found.

These deals are awesome by the way!! I'm trying to convince myself I NEED one of these given I have to charge this EVERYDAY or two. If it's worth the need will not mind doing it. Otherwise I might just wear my Casio watch or no wacth to my gym happily and will check my messages on my iPhone.

Why are Apple Watches lower in price when compared to '20 when the Series 5 was easily $350+?
Unless you own a version < 6, why would you buy or upgrade unless you got a crazy deal like that target deal 45mm for $229 that everyone is talking about. And yes I can confirm I was also checking regularly but it was always out of stock. It would come back in stock but it was fastest finger first except the fact it was 1 in million users lol 😂

To your question, almost everyone has a watch now. In 20s 5,6 version was like luxury level. Now it's become like a basic essential. 😎

It sounds to me like you've already answered your own question, and will regret buying it after the novelty wears off after a few days and wonder why you bought it in the first place.

That is a great response, thank you for writing a detailed one. It does sound like once you get used to these little comforts and convenience it would make sense a lot more. Biggest selling point they have is also quick charge: wake up, charge (45 mins??) and ready?? I don't want to spend 300$ every couple years but if it works for 4-5 years with good battery life that would be nice.

Thanks for the kind words. Trying to give back to community as much as I can.

Continuing where I left off. My biggest fear was that everything, even a non issue call would become priority once I start wearing watch as I am responsible for production 24/7x365. But fact is that you would have it with phone even more plus constantly checking phone for updates etc. So with watch you have a cool feature where if you get a call, you cover the watch face with your hand and ringing stops, how cool is that 😎. So you have power to answer or continue doing your work if you don't want to answer at that moment.

The other issue you mentioned was battery. With always ON feature you lose battery life. So in my case I have disabled that because I don't need it. I rather have more battery life so it works out better for me.

I have had my 6 series for 2-3 years. Battery life is great. I would jump on new versions if prices are good and if they can somehow get the glucose level feature in. That would be a ridiculous addition along with other benefits.

This is an awesome write up and pretty much what I use it for too. I'll add a few more use cases if anyone's not convinced Smilie

-I use my watch as my alarm clock. You can have it vibrate silently on your wrist so you don't wake up your partner.
-Not this model, but my daughter who is too young to have a phone has a cellular version of the SE and I can use it to call/text and find her in the neighborhood.
-Fall detection for my in-laws when they start getting up there in age
-In addition to workout tracking, Apple is leaning into the "health" device niche (though not certified medically) with heart arrhythmia monitoring, loud noise warnings, etc. Kind of nice to have access to all that active health information in one place.

Anyway, hope someone finds this useful to make their decision!

Great additions to the other use cases, which was super detailed.

I will say the ability for goal setting and tracking with fitness has been the most powerful long-term benefit for me. I spend so much time working in front of computer, and the constant reminders to get up and walk are great. Over the years I've burned tens of thousands of calories in a quest to close the activity ring towards the end of the day, at the 11th hour. I know I would never have done that were it not for the silly ring.

Other use cases:
- Apple pay on the wrist. So easy, I even used it for transit recently in NYC when visiting. So convenient!
- Sleep tracking. I don't sleep well sometimes and I know I can "feel it" without the watch, but looking at hard numbers is motivation to set up wind down routines, etc.
- Heart rate monitoring. I was once sitting at an all hands meeting, and it was my turn to present next. The watch went off about how my heart rate was high for no apparent reason (125+) and that was my trigger to breathe deep and mellow up before I spoke. Also detected I was sick a few times because my HR was much higher than usual when sitting/resting (100+ vs. 60-70), including after my booster shots.
- Great with maps when walking, so I can put my phone in my pocket after starting directions and the watch will buzz to guide me appropriately.
- Flashlight! I use that all the time if I wake up at night and have to find my way around. Especially helpful when staying at new locations, hotels, etc.

Would price lower closer to Christmas? Couldn't get in on the $230 target deals.

In the same boat. Don't care for the steps and health stuff but the notifications of texts are helpful when I don't have my phone handy.
