"Back when I was a kid" Lego was basically an imagination toy - you got a bunch of parts and built random shit. These days, it seems the focus is on kits like this with specialized pieces and actual instructions. What do you do when you're done building it? Put it on a shelf somewhere? Take it apart (like you would a puzzle)? It's like Lego has lost sense of what kind of toy it is.

I too had that bucket of random pieces, but I also had several small sets. I grew up kinda poor though, so I could only imagine owning an expensive larger sets like all the spaceship, castle and train kits they showed on TV.
