So this coupon actually makes the item the same price as other stores so they're not really giving you a deal they just Jack the price up and gave you a coupon

Yep that's how it works although a month or so ago I did use a coupon to get something cheaper than I could have gotten anywhere else. It's rare but it does occasionally happen.

In NorCal there is an Ace in most towns with 2 high schools. Yeah they're more expensive, but Home Depot is $10 more worth of gas away. Also the staff at Home Depot likely couldn't tell you if a 2,000 watt device will work on a standard 15amp circuit. The staff at Ace may not know but they do know which coworker will know the answer. I have had the people at Ace save me extra trips a few times over the past 5 years. Sometimes it's them telling me, "these feel like they will never fit, but that's just how they are and the next smaller size will leak."
