No it's not. It's 13th generation. The first two numbers after the dash are the generation.

i7-13700KF.

No, 13th gen is much better than 12, and 14 is barely an improvement over 13.

Yes. The 13700K is better at all core productivity tasks but sucks down almost 3x as much power. Intel mobos are effectively a dead platform at this point while AM5 should get at least 2 more generations of CPU.

My i5 13600K Runs cool as a cucumber (37C idle) on an Asrock Nova MB with a Noctura D15S single fan cooler and is $50 less. I saw no practical reason to get an i7 with this build especially since it's a lot easier to cool.

Gaming, sure. The 3D cache will help it perform better for many games at a lower res. But for applications, the AMD will tap out for multi-thread apps.

Aka, real world applications and work.

The LGA1700 is good for the 14700K which pretty much is good for a couple of years and backwards compatible with DDR4 (though why). Performance and price-wise, the Intel is a better value.

I mean, get a 14700K and DDR5-8000 and you won't be upgrading any time soon, and have better 4K gaming performance, not to mention many more cores (20?). Plus the CPU (power) will throttle down and consume less power than the 250W max rating because you just need jt. Probably one-half that for if you try to push it.

For TDP, you can run a two fan AIO setup as well. That will keep most things cool. A three fan AIO will be more than enough to keep temps down.

I hate it when people slap the "Gaming" label on it.

I've done a fair bit of video editing and rendering with mine, and when paired with my 3080ti, it handles everything pretty alright. What tasks are you saying the AMD will tap out in?
