A few to keep in mind with these expensive beasts:
They are sensitive and like any computer, often freeze and have to be manually reset.

If you're going to spend the whole shebang, the company branded bags fit better than any trash bag ever will.

They're not quiet!

They're huge.

Elimination is a big indicator of health conditions, regularity and appearance, and if you aren't scooping it yourself, you're more likely to miss early or even timely signs of a problem.

My two cents. 🐾🐾

We absolutely would not be able to do without our LR3 and when it dies I'll be inclined to have a newer model overnighted to replace it. That said, these things sure cost a boatload of money. yikes

Wish this included the warranty. I got the Costco 3 deal earlier this month for $500 with the 3 year warranty and way more accessories. If the points could be used towards the 3 year warranty, I get this 4 deal.

These are pretty easy to self repair. Whisker sells all the parts on their website.

These are game changers, I love my LR3.

I couldn't love my LR4 more than I do. I was very much on the fence about buying it given the cost, but I bought it 5 months ago and couldn't be happier with it. It's very quiet (it's in my master bathroom and I can't hear it outside the bathroom with the door open), standard kitchen trash bags fit just fine, and I've had no issues with it at all. Granted, I'm only 5 months in so perhaps issues will arise later, but for now it's awesome. I'm going to buy a 2d for downstairs. Thanks for this deal OP!

This is great advice. I would just add that the Litter Robot app collects data on your cats' weight and frequency of use, which are great health indicators as well. Additionally, having clean litter every time they use it is likely to reduce health problems.

I had a Litter Robot 3 about 6 years ago. The sensors didn't work properly. I bought it hoping for back pain relief from scooping but it ended up being 10 times MORE painful than just scooping a plain old box.

Just an FYI. When you do inevitably have to clean it, it's super awkward to take it apart and clean each component.

Additional 10%cb available to sweeten the deal.
Another website is doing 20%cb, today is the last day.

ETA: Just placed my order. Thanks again OP for the great deal. The GCs cost me $684, less the $112 in treats money I'll receive and the 20%cb, the LR4 cost me approx $418. While still not cheap, this is a great price for something that rarely goes on sale and has made my life a whole lot easier.

The fine print for the 20% offer says the maximum cashback is $50, which is less than you would receive with the unlimited 10%cb offer. Not a huge difference though.

I ended up having to return our LR4, the LR4 has a design flaw where if your cat does not turn all the way around and stick their head out the door there is a gap between the bowl and the base where urine will seep into and make a huge mess. They apparently tried to "fix" this by releasing a bigger gaurd that covers that gap, but it's really just a bandaid fix for a 700 machine that doesnt fix the problem if you have cats that don't like to go in smaller spaces.

I don't think it's worth the price with its current issues. Maybe the next model.

Our LR4 worked flawlessly for around eight months before bombarding us with constant "dirty sensors" errors. No amount of cleaning/resetting would fix the issue, and I ultimately ended up contacting Whisker before the warranty expired (later this month). They sent out a whole new base and, so far, it's back to working again.

When the sensors don't work, the machine becomes a real PITA to deal with. It'll falsely report a full bin all the time, which makes the machine stop working after three cleaning cycles. I could put a brand new bag (LR4 branded bags, kitchen bags, you name it) into the bin, and after a single cycle it'd say it was full. Other times, it would NEVER say it was full and would allow the bin to get so full you couldn't pull it out without making a horrendous mess. Eventually, it started to report "laser sensor" errors, and that's when I pushed for Whisker to do something about it.

I remember specifically that a firmware update came out about a week before all of the sensor issues. I've seen unconfirmed rumors that Whisker changed the design of their sensors due to issues, so maybe the newer machines will work better than my original one did. I hate that there's firmware needed for a litter box, but that's the world we're living in now.

The LR4 is an absolute game changer, and with three cats, I don't know how I'd ever go back to scooping again. But for such an expensive piece of hardware, I'm a bit concerned that it's already needed parts replaced within the first year. We didn't opt for the replacement plan/extended warranty, so I'm not exactly filled with confidence that this thing will make it another year without a costly repair.
