Wow, I bought this for $1200 last year. Prices really have come down! Absolutely one of my favorite guitars.

This is a great price. I will pull the trigger if the HSS comes down to this price but I might be making a mistake.

Dang, lowest price ever on the best guitar. I dropped $1250 on the Dark Night with Maple FB even though I wanted rosewood because maple was the only one on a deal. Of course a few weeks later the rosewood version went on sale as well, but the maple had grown on me (a little bit) so I stuck with it.

But for this price... NOPE NOPE having 2 SSS Dark Night strats is TOO FAR Big Grin.

This is a fantastic deal. I don't love the color, but am very tempted anyhow. 1 of my all time favorite guitars was an American Pro in Olympic White that I stupidly sold.

Great price on a beautiful guitar, I'm just not sure about the narrow tall frets as Im used to medium jumbo. Does anyone who has played both care to compare?

Just buy an HSS pickguard and throw in your preferred humbucker. The body is HSH routed.

I have both and was struggling to articulate, Googled to see if anyone else felt like I did, and this person/post feels EXACTLY how I do:

Narrow tall frets are taller but thinner than medium jumbo frets. Narrow tall frets make hammer ons/ pulls offs/ bending easier, however they make it more likely to push notes out of tune. Medium jumbo frets make the fretboard feel smoother and are better for players with a heavier touch.
I like having both available to noodle on... unlike a tele I just picked up with a 7.25" radius neck (my first), which I thought wouldn't be that big of a deal to get used to... WRONG lol. Still have to work on getting used to the small radius and I dunno if I ever will unless I can make my fingers lose weight... but going between narrow tall and medium jumbo for me got pretty easy pretty quickly as I have already been working on a lighter touch anyway, and the narrow talls reinforce that which to me is a bonus.

I recently did this after picking up a loaded HSS pick guard from a recent Fender sale, and yeah it really is that easy, just have to solder a few wires for the output jack and bridge ground. If you don't get a loaded pickguard but assemble your own HSS pickguard then it can get a bit more complicated on the soldering, especially if you go with a coil split option, etc. but even then there should be instructions and there are tons of videos on how to wire things up.
