Here is the fastest way to take advantage of this deal:
1. Buy $100 instacart at $80 at Costco.com (limit 2) using Chase Freedom (5% wholesales). The delivery time is 15min for my case. NOT instantaneous

2. Pay with your instacart GC at the check out. Enter the promotion code, "DECEMBERSD23". The place to enter instacart GC is not the payment section but the SAME place where you enter the promo code, "Add promo code or Instacart gift card" on the right panel, under the total price number. I attach a picture if you still don't know where.
3. To be perfectionist, consider to use paypal w/ chase freedom (5%) to pay the balance beyond $100. Pay attention if the instacart credit option is selected. Somehow I remember it was not selected by default when I chose Paypal as payment. You have to manually check in the payment section.
My instacart GC code accepted but I don't see it apply. What can I do?
If the instacart credit does not automatically apply to your order, you have to click on an arrow at the bottom right of the payment section area (yes, the checkbox is hidden by default). My local Costco is about to/was closed and the $30 off expires tomorrow (Monday). If I place the order now and schedule the delivery tomorrow, will the $30 promotion still apply?
While nobody can guarantee, from other deal experience, very likely you will secure the $30 promotion so long as you have placed the order today (Sunday) and it shows up when you submit. What matters is the transaction time, not the delivery time.
Have the "This promotion is invalid" error when applying the Instacart GC?

"Exit Checkout and go to the menu within the Costco same day app ,where you will see "your account , instacart+ etc.", you can add your GC there instead of at checkout , it said "applied " when I fed my code into the field . 1. Does instacart app and sameday.costco share the credit balance (since they both operated by Instacart?)
NO!!! Treat them totally as different places. You can't use the instacart app credit balance to pay Sameday.costco; vice verse, you can't use the remaining instacart credit at Sameday.costso.com to future instacart app orders.
2. If I've redeem an instacart GC code into the instacart app (but I know that credit hasn't been used up), can I redeem the same code to Sameday.Costco?
No, like "1", they are two places. You can only choose to redeem the code at one place, and the credit is then bounded to that place; the redeem code become invalid anywhere else.
3. If I can't use up the whole $100 instacart GC, where will the remaining credit be?
Stuck with Sameday.Costco.com for future orders to my knowledge. You can't use it anywhere else.
4. I am at Sameday.costco.com (not direct costco.com, not instacart app), but the system refuse to take my newly bought instacart GC (yes, I do enter at the promo code place), why?!
Make sure what you paste is correct. No more or less characters. Whatever you see, just know many people including me used the instacart GC and DECEMBERSD23 in the same order. They don't conflict with each other.
5. My instacart code was accepted but I don't see it apply to the payment. What goes wrong?!
Once you have a non-zero instacart credit at Sameday.costco, you shall see there is a check box in the payment area, asking if you want to apply the credit. If you can't see it, click the downward arrow in the bottom right of that area, that line should appear. Make sure there is a check in the box.

Clicking your mouse is more hassle than driving to a store and fighting rabid holiday crowds to get the same thing for the same price?
Gift card is still paid, not free. Nobody shall call it "discount". I remember Lyft calls the gift-card-paid rides as "FREE rides". I particularly hate to see that wording, part of the reason I opt to Uber when everything is equal.
If u use the Instacart gift card, make sure it applies to your order. It didn't appear at first for me but u need to manually select it for it to apply.

Edit: Did more tests. It is item by item (and I betcha it depends on your zip code as well)! regular items, like milk, orange juice are exact same price down to a cent. It all comes to the fees charged on the order then. What a waste of time! Why don't they make everything same price if I have both memberships? I doubt that's intentional; just highlights what a mess Instacart is (and oh yes, it is).
I still went ahead with the order. Almost everything I bought was on sale, with 2-months free InstaCart+ trial and $30 off I'm sure I'm saving money even after a small tip. I'll compare the prices I just paid with the store prices on the next trip, don't remember them all by heart, lol.

I hope 3-months InstaCart+ memebership via my Chase Freedom isn't "new users" only, so should give me 3 more months after the 2-months trial I just signed up for. If it is new users only, I guess I just wasted a month of membership by doing trial during checkout process instead of using Chase Freedom to sign up. Does anyone know? TIA!
