I didn't finish resurrections either. It felt like some kind of alternate reality B movie version of the matrix. The production quality and even worse the script just weren't there.

Seems i made the right call not to watch out of fear it would ruin the series for me.

Since the movie states that neo is not the first 'The One', The 4th one should have been a 'remake of the first one, but this time he remembers more of what happened last time!!! It would have been Awesome if neo went out on the ledge when the agents came after him at the start, and he had a feeling he COULD do it!!!

I loved all 3 original films and I actually liked the fourth one as well. They knew that the originals were so ingrained in our popular lexicon that if they tried to rehash more of the same it would just come off as played out and inferior, so they just decided to go the bonkers meta route. I appreciate that.

People misunderstand the 4th film. The studio told the Wachowskis they were bringing back the Matrix, with or without them. So they said ok, we'll make another one, but it's going to be about how producers and studios suck and we can't have nice things. So I think to some degree, the film is not a nice thing by design.

I probably won't watch it again but I understood the message.
