It allows a new vector of attack to steal your vehicle. People are using signal boosters to amplify your real fob from within your house, to unlock and drive cars in the driveway. Not sure if Tesla is susceptible to this currently, but why bother with this?

Occasionally, my car doesn't recognize my phone when I get near it, and I have to pull out my phone and open up the Tesla app to refresh it. Or pull out my wallet to get my key card. Not a big deal, but it's definitely annoying when I'm just standing there for 10 seconds trying to push on my door handle, and I can't even get into my own car.

On my phone I had to tell it to never allow the operating system to put the Tesla app to sleep. Zero issues after that.
The system sees that I rarely load it up directly, and decides it can save resources by not letting it run in the background at all times. Logical, but then your car won't see you.

what operating system are you using - iOS or Android ?
sure wish I could get a key made for my car for $175. Those bastards at Audi charge $600+ for physical key plus programming. Nobody can get around it either
Relay attacks are real - it's a valid comment, this type of fob would open you up to that potentially
Oh I know it's real, I just.. well, I guess we all live in different places. That type of crime doesn't happen around here -- it registers as a movie plot instead.
I withdraw my sarcastic comment.
