$7 is $7, and in this economy I'm not giving my hard-earned money away.

True. They helped revolutionize the industry, made games look stunning, allowed regular people to build with their engine for free, and want their developers to get paid appropriately for their hard work. Terrible company.

Once you get past the 'get away' Chapter (into the snowy mountains), the story starts to grab you more.

This isn't a slow 'walking simulator' like some games, nor is it a bloodbath 40-man shootout for every mission. The real quality of this game comes in the form of the story, which reads like a very, very good book - that and the utter unpredictability of the world.

One minute, you're riding along a trail marveling at the lightening and rain hammering you and your horse - the next second, you're on the ground with a cougar ripping at your neck, wondering where in the the h*ll did that come from.

It's a beautiful, emotional ride if you let the story pull you into their world. Good luck.

Deal is very much still live.

The $19 is before discount.

Just add it to your cart, then go to checkout. WIth discount, it's $13.

You may need to be logged into an account to see this discount - but all live accounts will likely have the 33% off coupon. If not, just 'buy' a free game on that account, and you will automatically get the coupon.

Deal should be valid until January 10th.

Should I buy a controller to play this or is it better with a keyboard and mouse?

Ah, I see it now. OP said you'd see it in your cart. But you don't. That's the confusion. It's only in the checkout process that you see it. I've got it now. Thanks.

Only thing i hate about Epic is you have to be signed in online to launch. Great games and sometimes better prices than Steam but still.

i've heard great things about this game, but is the play-style more like GTA V or like fallout/skyrim or perhaps AC?

curious why you feel so sure? I was about to buy but thought about the mystery game giveaway thing too. They just did Destiny 2 which was kind of a surprise. Just released this year and around 40 million copies sold. RDR2 much older now and around 58 million. I admit I don't know how they pick or choose. Does RDR2 just have more chance in the long term to continue earning?

Not only that, they're attacking the 30% Steam, Google, Apple taxes of the world. Something that some Steam fanbois who hang seem to think comes from thin air.

No. It was sub-$10 a couple years ago.

if you never played the first one, does that matter at all for the story in 2?

Do it... It is the best game I ever played, I laughed, I cried, I rode a horse, hunted, fished and killed many many bad guys.

Story is fantastic, if you don't feel like doing a quest, go hunting... Or, just ride around and explore. It has fabulous scenery, great game play. I have probably played through 4 or 5 times and got to 98% completion on my last go through.

BTW.. RDR1 was just re-released for modern platforms. Just picked up a copy to revisit the classic.
So if you play story mode you can just wander around the open world part and check stuff out? I'm a middle aged casual gamer and I can't handle the Fortnite or Call of duty style three hundred people shooting me at once type games. I need something to chill out with. I bought RDR2 for the Xbox before the pandemic started thinking I'd have time to get good at it but I never bothered even doing the exploring open world thing.

No, because this one is actually a prequel to the first Red Dead Redemption.
