The Scan Ferret 3D scanner is available on sale for $250 instead of $329 with the discount code: FER99 directly from Creality.
Shipping is free.

If you already have a 3D printer and want another option besides downloading STL files from Printables/Thingiverse etc. or designing in CAD programs to get printable files, then a 3D scanner is a useful addition.
The Scan Ferret is suitable for medium to large objects. For example, you can use it to scan the faces of your friends and family. Or use it for practical parts, such as getting a replacement part for a car that would be difficult to model in CAD software. The scans also contain a full color texture, which is more relevant if you want to use them as a 3D artist or as props in video games or something like that.

Compared to earlier scanner models, the Scan Ferret uses an ASIC chip that speeds up processing and helps with proper tracking while scanning and in different lighting conditions. There are also two other versions of the Scan Ferret, the pro version for around $386, which uses a wireless bridge with Wifi6 instead of a cable, and the SE version, which does not support mobile use with Android devices.

Make sure the phone or PC you want to use has at least 8GB of RAM. There's more information about the requirements for devices that can be used with Scan Ferret in the product description.

I have heard mostly bad things about this model, but really don't see any other options in the price range.

Like most things, the advertising does not match reality. However it does work for me using a Samsung S21. I usually have to place rags or crumpled up packing paper near my scan area for tracking. Saves me a few hours of work.

I always wanted to try one of these. I have too much filament but not enough models to print, I'm not really into printing piles of useless toy dragons and stuff. So I thought a scanner would be kind of cool.
How much post-processing is required? I tried some photogrammetry apps on my phone, they worked pretty well for the most part, but they didn't separate the model from its surroundings / the turntable I was using.

Just bought from AMZ with $11 more... oh well.Tried few scans, it's just "ok". Don't have too much expectation so I am okay. Have to edit it in the post. I am using Samsung S23+ and simple toy scan takes ~4 min for one step. There are like 3 steps. I won't use any less powerful power. or just use the PC.

You can check out the now defunct Intel RealSense cameras. Here's an example:

Yeah those start at $250 as well, I wonder which one of these is the better option.
