I love my work provided macbook, but for personal use I can get a comparably spec'ed windows laptop with an OLED screen for $1000 cheaper than this macbook air (recent costco hp and acer deals).

I picked up 2 of the hp Costco deal with oled for $630 and tax exempt of course compared to the Mac M1 Pro 14 that was $1250 from cosco 2x the price the downside is windows to be honest with you the hardware and the oled screen is better slight edge to the m1 on a few tasks but then a lot of programs you need Rosetta and that slows stuff way way down so performance wise I'd say they are about even apple is overpriced hands down they are a flat %200-250 mark up it's sad windows has gotten so bad and bloated and every computer I get I install Linux and if I need windows leave it on a virtual machine you can also run Mac OS in a virtual machine on Linux works perfect and if your looking for a deal hp $630 oled with Linux and Mac OS on a vm can't be beat for security ease of use and privacy

I want this deal! However, i don't think I can deal with the fingerprint issue. Space grey is out of stock. Hate to wait for that and have the discount expire.

MacBooks are very expensive but not overpriced aside from the idea that companies milk their customers, which is something all companies do.

Are there similarly specced laptops for cheaper? Sure. But those laptops all sacrifice something in comparison to the MacBook. Cooling, efficiency, build quality, power consumption. The only windows laptops that are competitive in all aspects compared to Apple laptops are also similarly priced.

So when you get something like that MacBook that excels in all aspects in a relatively lightweight and very well built laptop, it's going to cost a premium.

This same MacBook Air 15" was $1,499 at BestBuy for the last couple weeks and M3 MacBook Airs released today. Major, major skip on this awful deal.
