I remember from the last byod free line that someone mentioned you cannot ever do a line promo with this line, otherwise it becomes a paid line. Not sure how true it is. I guess the hassle would be trying to remember which line is byod and which isn't.
Reached to tforce on x. Mentioned both the internal document # and the promotion name as well as my segments need to be checked to see if I'm eligible. We'll see what they say. I currently have 8 lines for $100 a month.

It's not true. I got that free line and did a device promo for a Pixel 7 pro in December 2022 and I'm still getting the device credits. I bought a Samsung 10e on swappa for that line to do the trade in (Samsung phone was worth $800 in credits)

I don't think the December 2022 free line was a byod, was it? I have that one as well. I think the one(s) in early 2023 were byod.
I could be wrong and have my dates mixed up.
Edit : I think I am wrong. I think December 2022 and June 2023 were both byod.

"Hi there, I appreciate you for checking in to see if you qualify for this offer! It appears that you do not qualify for that specific offer, but good thing cause it appears that you qualify for our other free line promos! Let's take a look at "Buy One, Get One Free with New Voice Lines" and see if that works for you! Shall we?"

Yep it was BYOD. Even after I went to the store and got the deal people kept telling me on t-mobile discord and on slickdeals that I was stupid and that the promo credits would magically "drop off". It's been a year and I'm still getting the credits. Unless something has changed, their whole BYOD thing is a myth and it works for device credits.
Based on what I'm seeing on the discord, no one is qualifying for this free line.
Chat rep said I am eligible. Wanted to add the line but I am hesitant. I may chat later to get a second "opinion" from a another rep (55+ magenta plan here, only 2 paids lines) .

I'd just screenshot them saying you're eligible and add the line.

that never ends well. they don't have to honor what an employee says. there are a lot of dumb employees who have no clue what they are talking about and spit out incorrect information.

Yeah I'd be careful with this. Last time CSR told me I was eligible and then they started charging me. Multiple conversations with Tmobile CSRs since. Every time promised it will be fixed and never was. At least every time they gave me credit to cover the cost but next month same situation. In the end they basically admitted I was lied to but said tough luck. Taking all my lines and leaving T-Mobile because of that.
