Thank you.

So if I understand this correctly, there is no real benefit(like reduction in total monthly bill) to adding a free line if there is no actual intention of using it.
Yw! The free line is good if you have someone that can benefit or overall you can benefit from it. Like using the free line for a family member or in-law (if you are close). Or have kids that are too young now but will be of age to get a phone and the free line will come in handy.

I have Unlimited Freedom w/tax and fees included (originally sprint). I have a watch line and 4 phone lines. One phone line is on the Sprint free for life plan.

Chat said I'm eligible but they need an IMEI number. With sprint, they added the line and I was able to add the device at a later time. After reading the comments here, I'm glad I didn't jump on it so I have more time to think on it.

They did mention there's a $35 activation fee, and it didn't seem like they were very familiar with the plan... I say "they" because I noticed the name changed mid-chat which seemed odd.

There is. what some people do is that they replace the free line with a paid line after a year. This will lower their monthly bill tremendously.

Last time they had this, I qualified but was told since I already had 8 lines on my One plan, I had the maximum number of lines for that plan.
IIRC they have a different plan code for 5-8 vs 9-12 lines. So they would need to switch you to a different plan first and that's a recipe for disaster if you get a CSR who doesn't know what they're doing.

Thank for asking this. Was confused by that as well. Why would someone want to replace a free line with a paid line?

So you just pay tax on these free lines?

Do the free lines have their own data allotment?

I think 'desterpot' is stating a free line (from this promo) can replace a current paid line. But, it is all good if you don't care for the current paid line phone number and use the new line (free line) new number. There are benefits and non-benefits in doing this. One, the new free line will have a new number hence the person using that new line will be using a new number. Two, cancelling a paid line will put your account in a state where you will not be eligible to add any future promos (I think, within 90 days or is 6 months... don't recall). Unless you reactivate the cancel paid line to get on future promo.

opposite. you replace a paid line with a free one. transfer your number on the paid line to the free one, then cancel the paid line.

Yes, you only pay taxes if you are on the Simple Choice plan or older. Yes, the free lines will have their data allotment.
