"Spot" is a futures delivery price.

This is a rather large bar and would be hard to liquidate for something close to spot...

It's an investment, so where could you cash this when you need some cash?

Edit: would you be able to get the current value from a pawn shop in the future, or are they going to low ball it? In other words, once purchased this, is it really hard to get the current value anymore?

That's what I am thinking. Probably fewer people that are willing to take on something this size, and that means your sell price will be lower. Big risk to scrape 4%, you could very easily eat that and more if spot dips by the time you receive it.

Coin shops. Jewelers. Pawn shops. Tell them what you have and ask what they'd give you for it.

What would you expect to get paid, realistically?

They'll give you 90% at best and will use the excuse of how this is too big, impossible to sell, needs to go to the scraper for verification, etc etc etc.

There have been been so many of these gold posts on SD from Costco that we need a master thread complete with historical Costco pricing on gold products so we can better see the big picture.

Local coins or bullion dealers are usually best. Below Is a good place to start for a local list. You should be able to get spot or fairly close to it. Retailers almost always sell the small bars above spot prices. Places like pawn shops aren't usually good, as they're looking to make higher margins.
