Not a deal but a cool new product and would make great gifts. I'm not sure if there are any coupons going on right now. However, as the wise latin gas station sage told Sarah Connor at the end of Terminator 1...."storm's coming"

I just don't see a situation where I would need any of the items. I don't care who sells it. If I'm ever in a situation where I need this pack, God help me.
God did help you- he had Harbor Freight sell this pack to you.

i was living in fairbanks alaska one year and I was in my very high mileage wrx. I was traveling from fairbanks to Palmer and my radiator hose started leaking causing the car to overheat. This was in March so there was still plenty of snow.

Luckily I had a makeshift survival kit/car care kit in my trunk for emergencies. First time I ever had to dig through it. it took me about 3hrs overall to fix but in that 3hrs not a single car came by. I couldnt even hear anything but the wind blow and it was freezing. In that time, i scrambled to recall ever freaking survivor show that i could think of because my first thought was; im staying the night here.

luckily i was able to rig up a fix that at least got the hose to stay on until i could find a town. The nipple on my radiator corroded off and caused the hose to have a gap.

ever since then, I take my emergency kit seriously lol. people think its weird, but it might have saved me that day.

comprehensive stalking pack great for car or kidnapping
Yeah, I'll buy this and next time I blow a tire on the freeway during my commute, I'll use the Flint starter to start a smoking fire using the weeds on the side of the road to get the attention of the state troopers.

It is absolutely NOT safe to buy from Harbor Freight, in the sense that their non electrical items are made by cutting corners too, usually using plastic parts that should be metal. I saw casters there once labeled as 'all metal casters' made from plastic that was spray painted silver! The only things that didnt prove to be complete garbage (and sometimes theres a need for garbage disposable tools) were a hammer and a set of wrenches from there. They used to be cheap enough where it justified the one or two uses you might get before the tool broke, but their prices look a lot like other cheap tools now. Long story short: if its important dont buy from harbor freight, they buy from the same guys that make counterfeit stuff in Yiwu or wherever the hot new fake goods market is.
Move along, nothing to see

As someone who owned a business that catered to true outdoor survivalist and supplied the special forces in the US and UK with some of their kit.... just don't with this kit. The items in this kit are literally bottom tier stuff. Much of it can be purchased next to nothing off allibaba/temu/ebay from China suppliers.

"Flint" fire starters always crack me up. They are fun to play with yes, but in any REAL potential survival situation, just carry a few extra bic (or mini bic) lighters, and/or matches. If the knife is of decent quality this isn't a bad set to add stuff to.
Flint and steel is actually very useful, especially when paired with Vaseline soaked cotton balls. Here's the thing to consider, fuel also losing or misplacing. You can carry fuel, that's dangerous. Losing a lighter is certainly easier than flint and steel. I carry 3 sources of fire: lighter, stormproof matches, and a flint/steel setup.

This is a good share to educate people. Your post should definitely have more thumbs up. I agree with a lot of what you posted.

I would add in a spare pair of winter boots, extra pair of wool socks, an extra winter warm hat, mace especially for the ladies, spare power block/charger, and pen/paper in case you need to leave a note as to your where you left to/current health status, etc.

Everyone should definitely have a tourniquet in their car and it's cheap to have some QuickClot as well. You always need to be able to help yourself first to slow any bleeding after an accident. For under $25 a tourniquet and QuikClot could save your life.

Also for you contact wearers.. an old extra pair of glasses is key to keep in your glovebox. Even without an emergency they've come in handy over the years in a pinch.
Be careful with quickclot, we find that the powder will often cause burns, the embeded bandages is fine but the army found that soldiers were using quickclot on wounds that did not need it, even close to needing it.

I think it's a cool setup and thumbs up.... But really you would be better off to make up your own and all those parts you could get from AliExpress, skip/replace a few of those items including the Flint lighter and buy a cheap bic.

Yeah, I ran out of gas once but I was happy I had some paracord and a compass. The only thing that could have helped would have been a wire wood saw...DANG, I had too!

Logic checks out
It doesn't though, because I know someone who managed a store and their tools are made in the same factory as Craftsman, so this flowchart is all wrong since it has Craftsman as a suggestion. Those of you suggesting their stuff is cheap or not safe have been blinded by marketing.

The best survival kit is the one you have on you in a survival situation. Which is why you don't want to bother with a bunch of useless bric a brac that'll make you less likely to carry it around in the first place. A 7-in-1 survival spork, tactical pen, 'sabre card' and waterbottle clip are ridiculous. They're included for people who would rather indulge a fantasy than actually prepare for a real world survival situation, like getting lost on a hike.

You want a functional survival kit? Buy these items separately or find a serious kit that includes them:
  • A fixed blade, full-tang (blade material extends all the way through the handle) knife. It doesn't have to be a Rambo-sized blade, just something sturdy, sharp and that holds its edge. Make sure it comes with a functional sheath.
  • A ferrocerium rod and scraper, but also a Bic lighter and waterproof matches.
  • A bit of tinder (commercial products are an option but a small zip loc baggy with cotton balls impregnated with a very little bit of petroleum jelly work just as well, if not better)
  • Some cordage. Doesn't have to be mil-spec paracord, just something light but reasonably strong for shelter building and/or gear and clothing repair.
  • A decent compass. Doesn't have to be fancy, but something better than those notoriously unreliable, hard-to-get-an-accurate-bearing button compasses.
  • A water bottle or other means of storing/carrying water. (the fact that the above referenced HF kit comes with a water bottle clip, but not the water bottle itself, should tell you all you need to know about its legitimacy)
  • Water purification tablets and/or personal water filter (e.g. LifeStraw, Sawyer Mini or similar)
  • Duct tape
  • Reflective mylar emergency blanket
  • A bit of food. Sure, you can survive for quite a while without it, but if you're 18 hours into a survival situation, scared, hungry and getting a little lightheaded when you really need to keep your wits about you, you'll be thankful for those two Clif bars or bag of trail mix that you included in lieu of that survival spork and tactical pen.
  • A flashlight. Or better yet, a headlamp. Plus spare batteries.
  • A small first aid kit.
Nice list! I have always carried steel wool and a 9-volt battery too. Instant 🔥
