Here are some other tools that are necessary on top of your typical tool kit.
* A piston press – $20 on amazon. Most caliper pistons require LH or RH turning while compressing to accommodate the pad material
* An S-biner or heavy-duty hanger to hang the caliper
* a syringe to remove excess brake fluid (avoid overflowing at the mast).
Even a n00b can do 1 axle in 2 hours. It's a great way to improve your skills & pay more attention to your cars maintenance. I identified some other minor issues while I had my wheels off that other mechanics were overlooking.

Please carry on with the deserved Altima hate, but some of you guys are just racist dog whistling and that ain't cool.
1. At the time at least, they packaged the rotors and pads in the same box. The rotors crushed the pads boxes. Luckily nothing was damaged.
2. Drilled/slotted rotors are directional. One kit sent me two passenger side rotors. My only option was to return and replace which was frustrating but moreso led to quality control issues.
3rd issue wasn't the fault of the pads but just a pro tip. Grab a set of rotor screws off Amazon if you order. I had one strip out when trying to remove. Was easy enough to drill out and remove but still had to make a trip to the auto store to get a replacement screw and if you only have one vehicle this is difficult if your wheels and brakes are off. Save yourself the headache. Always good to replace them with new screws anyway and it's only a few bucks.
While your at it get some gloves, brake cleaner and grease and clean and grease your caliper pins to prevent seizing. The extra $10 and 5m of work can save a lot of grief down the road. Use the gloves! The cleaners are pretty harsh stuff.

I've stocked up on ProStop products in prior year clearances for three light trucks.
Pro Stop is OK for normal, every day conditions like I encounter in the Los Angeles area.
For my vehicles I drive into the Sierra Nevadas with they do not perform well. The mountain driving/braking for these tend to develop a glaze in the rotors very quickly which damages braking performance and safety. Some times I was able to temporarily "deglaze" them by lightly braking on down grades for long distances but they just aren't durable enough.
Full disclosure, I drive my cars hard and usually either have a heavy load and/or a 8-10k lb trailer. Currently I pay for the Duralast Golds and have found them to handle the mountain's well.
