Let me get things started:

Who buys physical gold these days?

Why would you buy gold over spot?

Where would you sell these?

If the price goes down can I return these?

Sounds like you could use some self-research on that new "Google" search engine. These questions have all been easily answered 1,000,000,000,000 times already

Interest in the elephants for sure, seems to be the least popular bar that lasts the longest.

Answer: Alot of people are buying physical gold and have been for thousands of years. Costco alone has sold over $100 million dollars in the last quarter. No they are not returnable or refundable ( read the post you are responding to). The net purchase price after factoring in Costco Executive Membership and using their cash rewards Visa card puts it below spot price ( which is way less than when using a card with the major bullion dealers). They can be sold at local coin/buillion dealers but usually at a discount from spot price.
