For the price it's a good glass kettle, but the lid is plastic. If you leave the lid closed while it is rapidly boiling there is a bit of plastic taste to the water. If you watch it and open the lid as soon as it starts to boil, it works great, but the auto shutoff is meant to work with the lid closed so you shouldn't leave it alone.

Is this issue specific to this electric kettle? Because for 3 years I've been using an electric kettle from a different brand that has a plastic lid and never had an issue with the water tasting different because of it.

For the price it's a good glass kettle, but the lid is plastic. If you leave the lid closed while it is rapidly boiling there is a bit of plastic taste to the water. Maybe this model or maybe I am especially sensitive to the taste. If it weren't for that issue I would say this is really a great kettle for the price. I paid the same last year and still use it.

The other issue if you don't lift the lid early is that the lid won't stay up to pour and you will pour boiled water against the plastic lid as it comes out the glass spout. If you lift the lid early the lid will stay up for pouring.

Can anyone that has this chime in on it. I had a "no name" one of these and it was great until the bottom basically fell off with boiling water in it.

There are tons of reviews but keep in mind this is $11 and Bella are pretty much bottom line appliances. I had this brand toaster catch on fire once on me only a month old

Have this exact one. It gets used a couple times a day in my house. Just make sure the lid is clicked closed or it will not turn off. Bonus for me, I have a Bella milk frother too and the base powers that as well.
