I bet this is a decent unit for the price, but no way this was marked down from $250. Maybe $100–150 max. And even at $150, there are higher-tier units (https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/) from more reputable brands. There is always at least one A-tier 1000W Gold unit on sale for under $150.

Any PSUs you would recommend? I'm putting together a 7800XT + 7800X3D PC. 1000W seems like overkill for this, leaning towards the 750-850W range. But I don't know much about PSUs outside of wattage and bronze/gold/etc ratings so not sure if I should be looking for anything else.

This one hasn't gotten particularly good reviews with lots complaining it's dying within a few months / a year so not sure if I'll jump on this

MSI MPG A850G is the best deal I'm seeing at the moment for an A-tier 850 watt. Currently 135 online, but Microcenter has them for 110. Gonna see if Best Buy will price match.

I would get this psu at 1000w because I am telling u, it seems like they keep making more power hungry gpu and cpu each year. I thought 700w was enough a couple years back. Now it's barely the minimum with the new cpus and higher end gpus.

They say u want to give a psu a 25% buffer. Therefore if ur gpu takes 300+ watts and ur cpu at 250ish gi e or take. Already just these 2 components is at least 550watts. Not giving u much room for any other components. This is all assuming the psu is a decent brand. I trust rosewill more than those other Chinese brands u get from Amazon.

"Reputable brands" in PSUs is a bit of a misnomer. Most brands do not make there own and contract through OEMs, thus their "brand" means little to nothing. It's the OEMs that matter, and to further the point the individual product of the OEM that matters moreso than the brand.

MSRPs got absolutely discredited during mining and covid. Companies have been using inflated msrps ever since and they cannot be taken seriously.

That all said, The Cultists tier list is a good reference even if it embellishes a bit.
