"How ever you have contacted me regarding this, and you're a valuable guest to us, I don't want to disappoint you at this moment, I'm going to process $10 off on the order / items for one time exception only for you."
Guess I'm valuable.

And yes I know this game will probably continue to drop in price, and as a 2010 game it's probably not worth what I paid for it, but I've never played it before and didn't want to risk continue waiting for a sale only to have it go out of print. We're in the final months of the Switch. These physical copies can just disappear from store shelves on a whim, never to return.
The rep in the online chat told me they couldn't match staples BECAUSE IT WAS A SALE PRICE.
I told him that was ridiculous. If it was REGULAR price, why would I need to match?? It would just be the regular standard price! There would be nothing to "match"! I asked him - What's the point of price matching if it excludes sales??
He told me he'd make a "special exception " for me since I'm a loyal customer.
Anyway, I wonder if they just use this "special exception" phrase to make people feel special?
But I want to buy it....
