What's the benefit of this vs getting a receiver and a set of speakers?

Ease of use. You turn on your TV and this is on already. It's seamless. The sound is really beautiful. The sub surprises me everyday. Im glad I switched.

This X100! I have the Q95 (i think B) and arc integration with Samsung is horrible. Cuts out intermittently, delayed audio at times, delayed start, etc. not sure who is the culprit here

I did a deep dive on audio not able to sync w video for the ARC, I also have a Samsung. Apparently in the fine print somewhere on the SONOS website it lists TV's that are compatible for AV Sync, and mine is not listed. Therefore SONOS takes a "It's not me, it's you" approach to this.

I've had this combo for over a year now, it worked great for about 6-7 months and then after I updated SONOS, the sound started cutting out intermittently. It is very annoying and doesn't do it with all apps. I've also tried using it through Apple TV and it's the same. When I don't use Samsung TV, the sound is fine. I bet Sonos updated something on purpose (because before it worked perfectly) and now it doesn't and Sonos doesn't want admit it, they are blaming on Samsung.

Also on a side note, Samsung 9 series sound system, I compared it to Sonos, and Sonos sound is much clearer, and has better sound stage, where Samsung is very punchy and harsh. The Sonos Sub is a lot softer too, and I like how the speakers are positioned to cancel out vibrations.
P.S. Sonos system sound very close to my JBL LSR 306II with LSR 310. That's what I was comparing it mostly to (studio sound)

I've heard and tested these things and I wouldn't buy a complete Sonos ARC system if the price tag was $300. The sound is great for a sound bar setup but that's like a drop in the bucket compared to almost anything ran through a receiver with a real sub and even cheap speakers. You could easily quadruple the performance for the same or less price. I get paying for convenience but judging by the negative connectivity comments I don't see that being worth much. Someone needs to make a simple system at a reasonable price and they'd sell a billion of them at $300-400 bucks. Use an Apple level of connectivity and simplicity that sounds maybe 1/2 as good as a regular home theater setup ran through a receiver, simple recipe imo.

I agree sound on this is meh…. Save your money

I visited a friend's house with this and watched John Wick 4 yesterday, it's OK but not worth these price points. It clipped glitched audio for a second during an intense fight and in my affordable Vizio setup with Atmos and Vision pass thru it sound almost as good (I don't love it) but doesn't skip. I would like to show room some of these units as reviews seem to be good for anything that cost a lot lately leaving me skeptical.
