Just saw these for $45 on Clearance. Local store (SE PA) had maybe 3 or 4.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN/5013302107 - Link is for reference only

This is less than half the price of a previous Frontpage deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/16604747-230-pc-craftsman-standard-metric-mechanics-tool-set-w-hard-case-119-free-shipping

NOTE: this is a 'pretty good' set as a starter. Admittedly it does have a lot of 'filler' bits. But, it's a great kit overall if you don't already have a ton of bits; AND, for $45, this is hard to beat even considering the fillers.

Pros:
- Good selection of sockets for a starter
- Case is decent, seems durable, and you can stack a drawer on top
- Latches into a VersaStack system if you have that

Cons:
- Lot of filler bits
- Very few 1/2" sockets
- Lot of wasted space inside the case

They are made in Taiwan and the quality seems to be good.

NOTE: this is model # CMMT45305. There is also an updated kit model # CMMT45306, which is also on sale for $129. As far as I can tell, the only difference is that the newer kit has slimmer-head ratchets. This can be important but you'll have to decide if it's worth the extra expense. For $45 I couldn't pass up the kit in this post.

What was the price listed? And did it ring up 45 only after checking out?

It was listed as $45 right on the front edge of the rack, one of those yellow stickers with 'Clearance' in the black oval. I hadn't looked at this set in the store before but if I had to guess, it was still in its original shelf location and not moved into a 'back aisle' or 'drop bay' part of the store.

I had them scan this one as well as the CMMT45306 kit in case they both were $45 (they were on the same rack so it wasn't clear that they weren't both clearanced); CMMT45305 came up as $45, CMMT45306 as $129.

Sure -- saw them at Lowe's Store #1729, Zip 19335.

Website still shows $129 even when set to that store, but I think this is common behavior for Lowe's YMMV deals.

Here's the BS link to the item, but not sure how accurate the inventory or pricing is. It's definitely wrong for the store I saw it at.

And if they are, it's probably made out of vibranium. (Total slick deal!)

Over 100+ bits like all the high-count tool sets. I got the Jobsmart 253 PC for $40 but damn so many bits..... I wish they at least included some darn pliers

Well, strictly speaking, I count 11x6 == 66 bits. Unless you argue that the 'bit sockets' and Allen keys count, YMMV on that.

But like I suggested in the OP, I wouldn't recommend this kit for someone who already has a ton of tools. But for someone starting out who has like, no real tool kit -- or as a gift for someone like that -- I don't think you'll find a better deal than this.

I almost bought this every year and always out of stock by the time I get it. I got in on that 70 dollar DEWALT deal. But this is the lowest I ever seen.
