Looked likes there's supposed to be a tamper proof sticker. I still had them open it and check that the batteries are in there though.
Fortunately they were. So got this and the protection plan, so hopefully if it craps out it's not a big deal.
Which speaking of the protection plan, is there any point getting one since it seems like they said it takes effect AFTER the manufacturers warranty? And I think people said allstate warranties suck... I'm assuming if it has the issues people said it has, they should manifest themselves within the first year (which. assuming is within the manufacturers warranty period).

They offered to sell me the mower only for $49.99, but I insisted that they replaced the batteries and chargers.
They didn't have any in stock so they had to purchase from another store and I had to go and pick them up.
Was a 2 hour disaster, but in the end I got 2 retail packaged batteries and dual charger and the mower for the $249.99
Had to apply some major pressure on the manager of the store.
Make sure to open both boxes: unit and battery. If the batteries are gone, have them swap the batteries from the display model into the retail box and check out. My store would not replace the missing ones they just rma'd them back to home base.
