Instead of this i would recommend rp1400 which went on sale few weks back for 699$ .
Yeah waiting on that sale again. I upgraded my receiver to x3800h but honestly I'm thinking to return it and getting Klipsch sub because the receiver upgrade isn't that big as I thought it would be. Granted I'm still only on day 1 with it so still need time to play around with it and tweak few things.
Klipsch fixed their MAJOR amp failures YEARS ago, before the SPL line (and even before the 115/112/110 lines) even existed. This was a real issue, but is a long time in the past. That being said, Klipsch still has amp failures, but they are no worse than industry norms. I would not personally worry about this. Klipsch sells more subs than any other speaker maker, it is not even close. So there will be more unhappy folks that are the squeaky wheel in various forums than for other manufacturers, but on a per sub basis, the average person will not experience an issue on this SPL line.
All that being said there is no question the RP line of subs recently released is better in basically every aspect and I would get that for less than $200 difference. That would make these need to be $500 or less before I would consider over the $700 RP-1400 that was recently on sale.
If I needed a sub today and did not want to wait for the RP line to go on sale again, I would get this.
If you buy one, make sure to save your receipt. Klipsch is still replacing amps in these even out of warranty if you can show proof of purchase. They just send you another spl150 amp but it's free at least.
I've got an SW-450 and now, the RP-1400 I like Klipsch subs a lot. The RP is definitely more 'defined' and clear than the SW-450, but as mentioned - the amp issue had been fixed a while back, so whether you get this SPL or wait for the RP to go on sale again, I don't think you can go wrong.

I had an amp fail out of warranty maybe three years ago and do received a new one and it also failed after maybe a year. Think they'd send another?
