so tempting, I mean the specs at this price would be best value for performance. Actual performance reviews shows it definitely performs above its price class. But its such a gamble and risk with the amp failure.
There are resources online and also mentioned in previous deals, unplugging it when not in use is the fix.
I rarely get the extended warranty for extra, but for this sub I would because of the higher failure rate of this specific model. But if you get a good one, definitely worth it.
Assuming you guys are embellishing the amp failure rate, that's a lot of sub for the money. If you're embellishing
why the heck would any of us "embellish" that this thing has a turd of an amp and they give you a lousy 2 year warranty. If it was a good amp they would give you a 5 year warranty like most other subs including there own rp line.. I would at the least buy it with a credit card that extends the warranty out to 3 years most likely you will need it but you could always get a "good" one. not all of them fail they just have a very high rate of failure due to a bad internal design.
I have the Jamo 12" version, and the amp lasted more than 6 years. Bought a new amp for a half way decent price, but a power surge took that one out. Putting a power strip down, and turning it off between uses would be the safe play. That said, the RP-120 has been on sale for $400, so that may be a better play. The RP series are larger than the SPL's, speaker size excluded.
I have had 2 of these for about a year now. I got them both close to this price. They go down to 15hz in my room (a family room open to a Kitchen) YMMV.
I figure at this price, if the amps blow , it gives my an excuse to buy a bigger amp to see what these woofers can do !
